Floor: Escudo Rojo comes from the Central Valley, south of Santiago de Chile. The vineyards are located in small valleys between the Pacific Ocean and the Andes Mountains. Production: The grapes for Escudo Rojo are hand picked and selected strictly. The berries are gently crushed and mashed initially for 24 to 48 hours at cool temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees. Then starts the eight-to ten-day fermentation. The young wine then remains at controlled temperatures of 28 to 30 ° C for 15 to 20 days on the skins - until the malolactic fermentation is complete. General information: The name Escudo Rojo (translated "red shield") is derived from the name of the family and resembles a red sign that the Frankfurt banking family, Amschel Mayer Rothschild in the 18th century had placed at the front gate of her house. The label of the Escudo Rojo symbolizes the name of and engages with the colors blue and yellow colors of the coats of arms of the family. In 1999 the first vintage was vinified by Escudo Rojo.
